The cream of the crop of South Africa’s music industry will entertain music lovers and fans of local sounds at the Nelson Mandela Bay (NMB) Stadium this December, the stadium announced.
The music spoils are set to kick off with the inaugural Bay Summer Fest music concert containing a line-up of local and national artists, taking place on Sunday 22 December from 12 midday until late. The artist line-up includes the likes of Executive Stimulus, Luke Goliath & Zaybo, Lisa Love, Sham De Funk, Biggy, Jay EM, Micasa, Timo ODV, Early B, Luke M, Da Capo and Dj Kent. Tickets range between R150 – R295.
“The Bay Summer Fest concert provides a great opportunity for five of some of the best local artists to showcase their talent to a larger audience and exposes them to a wider market as the Metro is abuzz with holidaymakers during this time,” said Phumulani Hlatshwayo, NMB Stadium’s Head of Commercial.
The 8th edition of the Ebubeleni Music Festival takes place the subsequent weekend from Friday 27 December, continues on Saturday 28 December, concluding on Sunday 29 December. The three-day affair entails the Ebubeleni Urban Fest 2019 (Hip Hop vs GQOM vs Amapaiano) taking place on the Friday, the Ebubeleni Comedy on the Saturday and the Ebubeleni Main Music Festival on the Sunday. The Ebubeleni Comedy will take place at the Boardwalk International Convention Centre (ICC).
The artist line-up for Friday boasts A-listers such as AKA, Kwesta, Cassper Nyovest, Sho Madjozi, and Prince Kaybee, among others. MCs for the day will be Umhlobo Wenene’s Amaza Ntshanga, Nonke Mabizela and King Booi. Tickets are selling at R250 for general access and R1 000 for VIP.
Sunday’s main music festival will have the crowds dancing along to hits from Port Elizabeth’s very own Zonke, Vusi Nova, Anatii and Ami Faku. Other headlining artists will include Tsepo Tshola, Jaziel Brothers, DJ Tira and many more, with Somizi Mhlongo as programme director for the day. Tickets range between R275 for general access, R350 for golden circle and R1 000 for VIP.
The Ebubeleni Music Festival has seen exponential growth over the years. In 2017, the festival was graced by over 18 000 attendees, this figure rose to over 24 000 in 2018 and the projected figure for this year is over 25 000 attendees.
“As the Stadium we are glad to be part of the growth of this major festival in the Bay which has seen considerable growth over the past eight years, having previously been hosted at Adcock Stadium and the Scribante Racetrack to now being hosted at our state-of-the-art Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium,” remarked Hlatshwayo.
