Lottoland SA has created a heartwarming movement that is helping South Africans across the nation who are struggling during these difficult times.
By means of Dankie, Lottoland, a new television series on kykNet, Lottoland has pledged its support and assistance to various charity organisations and individuals in need. In each of the 13 episodes, a local celebrity joins the Lottoland team to visit a charity organisation where they roll up their sleeves and help in various ways. Famous sports stars, popular musicians, and well-known actors, actresses and media personalities have already reached out to participate in the Dankie, Lottoland project. They include Dewald Wasserfall, Simoné Pretorius, Duane Vermeulen, Francois van Coke, Therese Bam and Jannie Moolman, to name but a few. In some of the episodes, another celebrity makes a surprise visit to join the Lottoland team to help make dreams come true. The programme ends on happy note – often with more than just a couple of tears!
Dankie, Lottoland airs on Saturdays at 18:00 on kykNet (DSTV channel 144). The TV programme launched on 3 April and within the first three episodes, already had a powerful impact on South African society, having raised awareness of specific charitable causes within the community. It has sparked support from many viewers who have opened their hearts and wallets to get involved and help charities they may not even have known about before.
Marleen van der Walt of Dynamic Women for Children in Pretoria, recently featured on Dankie, Lottoland, says: ‘We received an incredible reaction from the TV programme. After the broadcast we received many generous offers from the public to help both with finances, as well as specific tasks such as erecting a safety fence around the facility.’ Kind strangers have volunteered their time and services, whilst others even offered to pay for a year’s worth of food for the children. ‘These donations make an unbelievable difference in our children’s lives, and without Lottoland, these donors never would have known about us and the work we do. I can only say again, Dankie, Lottoland!’
Through Dankie, Lottoland, many charitable organisations and projects have become known to the public, and as a result, the compassion and generosity of South Africans has shone through. Times are tough for everyone, but the one thing that is true now more than ever, is that a little bit of kindness goes a long way. Dankie, Lottoland has proved this and has become a beacon of hope for the future!
Lottoland SA presents South Africans with the opportunity to place fixed odds bets online on the outcome of some of the world’s biggest lotteries. These include the US Powerball, MegaMillions, and EuroMillions where payouts can be hundreds of millions, or even billions of Rands. If you picked the lucky numbers, Lottoland will pay the same amount to you as the official winning lottery draw pay out. Payouts are guaranteed as the company is registered and regulated by the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board. Winnings are paid out into the winner’s nominated bank account in South Africa. As an example, a MegaMillions pay-out of R4 billion will be a major cash injection from overseas into the South African economy. With Dankie, Lottoland the Zulu proverb of ubuntu is clearly demonstrated as South Africans have shown their care and generosity through focussing on helping their community.
