Coach like a pro with Gary Kirsten’s new online programme

Former Proteas coach Gary Kirsten will be launching an online coaching education and accreditation platform on the 2nd of April 2020. The sports programme is called CoachED and is designed to allow coaches to pursue areas of cricket relevant to their own specific requirements.

The programme was inspired by Kirsten’s passion for accessible, good-quality, structured resources that would help to improve the standard of cricket coaching internationally. “The game of cricket has changed and this has impacted how we coach. We wanted to develop a coach education programme that not only addressed these changes in real-time but empowered coaches of all levels with the necessary skills and knowledge to advance themselves and the game,” said Kirsten.

CoachED appeals to individuals who want to improve their cricket coach education, or coaches looking for a credible cricket coaching accreditation. “We’ve engaged with many coaches around the world and found there is the commonality in barriers to upgrading cricket coaching skills. We wanted to design a holistic, scalable platform that addresses this, providing opportunities to upskill in any cricketing areas and levels, “said Kirsten.

Kirsten brought together some of the best coaches in the game and drew on his own extensive coaching experience, to develop CoachED.The programme comprises interactive, user-friendly content in written, audio and visual form. The modules are in a short-course format and coaches can benefit from cricket coaching skills, drills and tools tailored to individual requirements.

Coaches who successfully complete the CoachED test requirements get a certificate and will feature on the CoachED database, accrediting them as qualified coaches. The qualification will complement existing coach certifications, knowledge and experience in the game.
