Our Ambition
Adidas aims to become a more sustainable company. For over two decades, our commitment to sustainability has been embedded in our business practices, rooted in our purpose that through sport, we have the power to change lives. In 2021, we sharpened our focus on sustainability, defining a roadmap for 2025 and beyond to create and drive positive impact. As pioneers in sustainability, we aim to offer a comprehensive, consumer-facing sustainable product range at scale, expand circular services, and work towards achieving climate neutrality (GHG) across our entire value chain. We also aim to uphold the highest standards of social compliance across our supply chain.
Partnership and Collaboration
We understand that achieving our sustainability targets requires collaboration. Leveraging our long-term relationships with suppliers, we ensure they align with our decarbonization efforts. Working closely with partners, we aim to scale innovative materials and recycling technologies. Our sustainable business approach balances shareholder expectations with the needs and concerns of employees, consumers, suppliers, supply chain workers, and the environment. Acting responsibly and respecting human rights are fundamental to our lasting economic success.
Targets for 2025 and Beyond
We have established a clear roadmap with specific targets for 2025 and beyond, focusing on the most material topics for our business and stakeholders. Key targets include:
Sustainable Product Offering: By 2025, nine out of ten Adidas articles will be sustainable. This means they will offer environmental benefits compared to conventional articles due to the materials used. We aim to reduce GHG emissions per product by 15% by 2025.
Climate Neutrality: By 2050, Adidas will achieve climate neutrality across our entire value chain. By 2025, we aim to reduce GHG emissions by 15% per product, measured against 2017 levels, and achieve climate neutrality in our operations. Additionally, we plan to reduce absolute GHG emissions across our entire value chain by 30% by 2030, compared to 2017. This will be accomplished through environmental programs, innovative materials and technologies, increased use of renewable energy, and energy efficiency measures.
Human Rights and Environmental Due Diligence: As part of our broader risk management processes, we will expand the scope and application of Human Rights and Environmental Due Diligence (HREDD) efforts. By 2025, we aim to have a system in place to identify and manage high-risk human rights issues across our value chain.
By setting and striving to achieve these targets, Adidas is positioning itself for future success as a sustainable business.
