Mr. Sachin Shigwan has completed his MBA in Social Entrepreneurship & has contributed towards the enhancement of society over the last decade; folks are recognizing him as The Solar Man of India for his phenomenal work towards rural electrification through solar energy as an innovative & sustainable solution.
Mr. Sachin Shigwan has an experience in the domain of Rural Development & Solar Energy which helped him to reach out to manifold beneficiaries in various villages across multiple states of India. Till date, Mr. Sachin Shigwan & his team Green India Initiative has covered more than 470+ Villages across divergent states of India. The Concept of the Green India Initiative came into the mind of Mr. Sachin Shigwan in the year 2009 when he was visiting to the rural villages with Rotary club to develop them. During the visit, Mr. Shigwan observed that the rural students are using the kerosene lamps to study and when he recollected memories with recent accident in his teenage years while studying under a kerosene lamp. And then he started the concept of Green India Initiative which gets approved & registered in the year 2014 named as Private Limited Company (Social Enterprise).
Mr. Sachin Shigwan (The Solar Man of India) established the organization with a mission of lighting up 1000 villages till 2025. Green India initiative is a for-profit social enterprise currently working as a bridge between the donor & beneficiaries to execute their CSR projects in Rural India. Green India Initiative plays an implementing agency role with the inclusion of Engineering, Procurement, Execution & Commissioning of the project in a systematic way. The Gram Energy Project was designed & executed by Green India Initiative team to improve rural electrification by providing street lighting systems, school infrastructure, water lifting facilities, potable water arrangements and livelihood opportunities through solar energy. To overcome the dependency on fossil fuels, Green India Initiative has been working for several years on Universal access to affordable, reliable, sustainable & modern energy – SDG 7 interlinked to our various green energy projects. Green India Initiative tries to reach the core problem and finds a sustainable solution that will try to eliminate the problem with its full potential.
Green India Initiative has completed more than 470+ villages and covered 9 states of India. During the project execution, we have touched up 50,000+ beneficiaries & have help to reduce 1500+ tons of carbon footprints emission from the environment. Over the decade, Mr. Sachin Shigwan (The Solar Man of India) has created goodwill in the market as a CSR consultant by helping many corporates to execute their dream projects in numerous areas of impact. Mr. Shigwan had to study under the kerosene lamp or municipal street lamps & now he is creating awareness about clean & green energy among various Corporates Employees under the Solar Ambassador Program (online/offline) by discarding the use of kerosene lamps from the life of underprivileged people. Also, he has called for the speaker in various corporate companies to share knowledge regarding solar energy & how it can be beneficial for the specific individual through Solar Ambassador Program (Light A Life). Through this program, many like-minded people have taken steps towards environmental protection & reduction in carbon footprint.
The Solar Man of India is one of the unique entrepreneurs whose working style is bilateral, where he executes CSR projects with a proper strategic plan & on another side; he is training the youth, like-minded people and corporate employees while conducting workshops on solar energy. Till date, Mr. Shigwan has completed more than 100+ workshops (online/offline) and has trained more than 5000+ beneficiaries during the program. The Solar Man has learned various things during his life journey which; will be impacting in his foresight days one; of the examples is, Learning is a continuous process & each human being can learn whenever the opportunity knocks on the door.
Recently Mr. Sachin Drupada Yashwant Shigwan (The Solar Man) has also been recognized on the TEDx Platform of BHIS Kanpur for his exceptional work towards the rural part of India.
Green India Initiative has seen a lot of hardships and struggles to reach the position where it stands today! Green India Initiative was recognized and awarded under the category of ‘Greenpreneur – Rural Development Sector through Solar Energy. From GIIPL’s contribution to rural development has been immaculate and is the sole reason for this achievement. Also, various other social platforms like Sony BBC Earth & Sustainability Champion have recognized The Solar Man for promoting solar energy in the arena; Rural Development. He has been covered in various business magazines such as Corporate Social Focus – July 2022 and influenced many people through his YouTube video covered by famous influencers like Abhi & Niyu and Anuj Ramatri, who are linkage with the environment. The story of The Solar Man of India is featured in Marathi book ‘Saptarang Udyajakteche’. The Solar Man is one of the green entrepreneur who identifies the need in the marketplace and works to fulfill it for such tremendous work; the villagers, corporate members & professionals from the social service field convened him as The Solar Man of India.
