Charity has been a central aim of Novak Djokovic since he emerged from tour. The player has his own foundation, which carries out various philanthropic works on his behalf. And now, during this festive period, the foundation is undertaking some work to help children have a colorful year ahead.
The Novak Djokovic Foundation has become Santa Claus for various children in hospitals around Serbia. The foundation will renovate hospital rooms and send presents to these kids, just like Santa Claus, in this festive period.
Earlier in a statement, Djokovic gave the first objectives of his foundation going into 2021. The coronavirus pandemic has been heavy on Serbia. So the foundation has tried its best to help the healthcare sector in Serbia.
“Considering the current pandemic situation, this year we primarily focused on healthcare, and with our donations, tried to assist the healthcare institutions in Serbia,”
Further, the primary goal of the foundation has been helping underprivileged children. They have built new preschools in various villages in Serbia to aid in the education of younger children.
“However, our primary goal is still to invest into children and their future. The goal is to open new preschools in Vajska and Ljubis villages, which will accommodate a total of 105 children. Each of these places has its own story, and we want to tell it to the whole world, with the help of those who believe in our mission.”
So, coupled with the humanitarian work, Djokovic has been performing at a great level on the ATP tour. He is still winning a lot of matches and tournaments. The 17-time Grand Slam champion will defend the ATP Cupcrown with Serbia in the first week of February in Australia. Later, he will defend his Australian Open title from February 8.
