New Movement of Kindness Launched in the Paarl Valley

Paarl Valley recently launched The Love My Valley Movement of Kindness to say thank you healthcare workers who have been working tirelessly during the Covid-19 pandemic. The community of Paarl Valley will be sharing cups of coffee, raw juices and fresh-baked biscuits.

Love My Valley is an initiative of Valcare, a social impact company that manages social investment funds; and facilitates a network of hundreds of nonprofit membership organisations in the Cape Winelands.

The movement follows the successful Covid-19 Food Support Programme in 2020 where thousands of individuals and local businesses joined hands to enable 3 million meals to more than 43 000 vulnerable people in the Cape Winelands in just five months.

“We are collective of people, businesses and organisations who all want to make a difference in our local community. We are stepping up and standing together to show compassion towards the people that make this valley a better place. Everyone is invited to join us!” said Ivan Swartz, CEO of Valcare.

Several local projects will be launched throughout the year to create responsible opportunities where people and businesses can show compassion and be generous in easy ways. For the first project, they are raising funds to hand out Fleet coffee, Raw Squeeze juice and Mosaic bakery biscuits to hundreds of healthcare workers at Paarl Provincial Hospital and Paarl Mediclinic the 8th and 9th of April 2021.

The movement is calling the public to donate by scanning the Snapscan or Zapper QR codes displayed on the Valcare website, social media channels and on posters that can be found at various points throughout the town.

You can also donate a cup of coffee when you visit the Fleet roasteries at either Val de Vie Estate or KWV Sensorium.Aside from the specific projects, Valcare is also calling on local businesses to establish constant Love My Valley funding streams throughout the year that will be channelled through Valcare to credible nonprofit organisations in the valley.

“Love My Valley is not a once-off project –it’s a way of living to enable people to leave a lasting legacy in the valley. Every single person who live or work in the Paarl valley or surrounding areas, are invited to join the movement, in whatever way they can,” added Swartz.

Current partners include KWV Foundation, Pure Legacy, Val de Vie Foundation, Aslan Trust and Hanneli Rupert Getuienistrust, Fleet, Raw Squeeze, Mosaic and Café Frenchie, but they are inviting many more businesses to step up and get involved.
