Konica Minolta International has once again been given the highest evaluation and awarded a prestigious global leadership position on the Climate āA Listā by CDP, for the fifth time. CDP is a highly regarded international not-for-profit organisation engaged in activities to realise a sustainable economy.
The Climate āA Listā consists of companies that have been recognised as global leaders for their actions and strategies in response to climate change. Of more than 5,800 companies around the world that were covered by CDP’s survey, only 270 companies were included on the Climate A List this year for their actions to reduce carbon emissions and help mitigate climate change.
Furthermore, Konica Minolta has also been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World), one of the most prestigious global indices of Environment Social Governance (ESG) investment, for the ninth consecutive year. In the annual review of the 2,500 largest companies, 323 companies have been listed on the DJSI World including Konica Minolta.
An award-winning approach to climate change problems
āKonica Minolta is striving to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) while facilitating the evolution of the business community and human society. Within South Africa, we have planted in excess of 50,000 trees at schools, clinics, museums, community centres and RDP homes over the course of the past 13 years,ā says Marc Pillay, CEO of Konica Minolta South Africa.
Pillay adds that, āAside from improving air quality, releasing oxygen and helping to mitigate global warming by sequestering carbon dioxide, these trees also reduce storm-water runoff thereby reducing erosion and possible flooding and provide habitat and food for a variety of birds, animals and insects. We are very proud of this greening initiative and on the eco legacy that it is going to leave behind.ā
