The City of Cape Town’s beloved anti-litter mascot, Bingo, made a special appearance at Westlake Primary School’s Wildlife Day celebration on 22 February 2024.
Wildlife Day serves as a platform for celebrating animals and fostering a deeper connection to nature while raising crucial environmental awareness among students.
During his visit to Westlake Primary School to commemorate this occasion, Bingo interacted with students, helping to impart valuable lessons on the detrimental effects of litter on wildlife and the environment. He also highlighted the importance of responsible waste disposal and the significance of keeping our surroundings clean.
‘I would again like to emphasise the significance of instilling good habits early on. Proper waste disposal is essential for the well-being of our environment and the creatures that inhabit it. By teaching children to “Bin it in a Bingo bin,” we are fostering a culture of environmental stewardship and ensuring a cleaner, greener future for Cape Town,’ Alderman Grant Twigg, Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Waste Management
Bingo’s visit to Westlake Primary School underscores the City’s commitment to environmental education and community engagement. By partnering with schools and community organisations, the City aims to empower individuals of all ages to take proactive steps towards a cleaner, more sustainable environment.
