Western Cape women gets awarded for her resilience

Mama Selestien Moses from Ashbury, Western Cape, joined Clover Mama Afrika in April 2007, wanting to learn and develop new skills to share with her community in the Western Cape. This year she was awarded with the Eqstra Distinction Award for her dedication and hard work towards her community.

Clover Mama Afrika is a Corporate Social Investment project that selects women from across the country and upskills both these women and their staff.

Through one of the great partnerships that Clover Mama Afrika has with Eqstra Flexi Fleet, an Eqstra Distinction Award is handed out to one special and hard-working mama every year, to commend and celebrate her love for her community.

“Eqstra is truly honoured and humbled to be able to make our contribution to support Mama Selestien’s vision becoming a reality as was being at the launch of her function hall. We wish Mama Selestien every success and have no doubt that this is just one more step in her path to achieving even greater things,” said Jacqui Carr, Divisional CEO of Eqstra Flexi Fleet Management.”

Mama Selestien is a testimonial to what can be achieved through the Clover Mama Afrika project, which is self-sustainability. She has taken on all opportunities provided by Clover Mama Afrika and implemented them with pride, hard work, dedication and passion. This includes the unconditional support from Eqstra Flexi Fleet.

“No words can describe my gratefulness for what I have today. It has been a long journey of blessings and a lot of support I received from Clover Mama Afrika and its project partners like Eqstra Flexi Fleet. My success is also thanks to every individual that shared the opening with me, especially my family who have stood by and allowed me to become the person I am today. I am more inspired to continue the work that I do for my community and its surrounds. I thank everyone with heart and soul,” shares Moses.

“The prize provided Mama Selestien with a well-deserved revamped function hall with new floor tiles, revamping the stage, paintwork and a range of new elements such as a 24m long red carpet, podium, advanced draping décor training and a flower arranging course. All of which could be seen and enjoyed at the grand re-opening after a long 9 months of planning, preparation, building and doing the final touches during the last week. Mama Selestien is truly an inspiration and an icon in her community and she is reaping the fruits of her labour,” explained Prof Elain Vlok, Corporate Services Manager at Clover.
