Time for the Plein Air Art Festival and Auction in Noordhoek

Started in 2017 by local Noordhoek artists, Dr. Roger Melvill and Andrew Hart, The Noordhoek Plein Air Art Festival has grown to be a much-loved annual event in the Noordhoek Valley. Each year 40 of South Africa’s top artists descend onto the Noordhoek Valley, painting out in the open for the public to watch, to create a work of art that is then sold at auction later in the day with a percentage of the proceeds donated to a local charity organisation.

This year’s Plein Air Art Festival which takes place on the 5th of March, will showcase works from Derric Van Rensburg, Andrew Cooper and Beth Lowe and many more, who will be creating their master pieces in aid of Project Noordhoeked.

The recently opened, Noordhoek Art Point Gallery, behind the much talked about ‘’smartie-wall’’, will have a map showing the public where the 40 artists will be painting in the Noordhoek Valley for them to go and see. At 4pm on Saturday the 5th of March, the artists will bring their works of art back to the gallery, where, at 5:30pm Noordhoek Auctioneers will auction off the pieces to raise funds for Project Noordhoeked, run by local Noordhoek resident, Karoline Hanks.
