Nominations for the Annual Golden Shield Heritage Awards open

The National Heritage Council (NHC) of South Africa in partnership with the Limpopo Sport, Arts and Culture invite its stakeholders to nominate Heritage activists who work selflessly to make the country proud of its African heritage for the annual 2021/22 Golden Shield Heritage Awards. The closing date for submission of nomination forms is 25 February 2022. The forms can be obtained from the NHC’s website and delivered to NHC’s offices or sent by email.

The NHC seek to honour Individuals, groups or organisations that have made worthwhile contributions to the preservation and promotion of the county’s cultural and natural heritage.

Nominees can be Individuals, organisation, institutions which may include municipalities, management authorities, conservancies, academia and institutes.

Individuals or groups may nominate themselves or heritage activists that meet the criteria in the following categories:

1. National Living Treasure

2. Local Government Commitment

3. Preferred Heritage Destination

4. Young Heritage Activist

5. Voice of Heritage

6. Corporate Heritage Management

7. Liberation Heritage Steward

8. Heritage Education
