Africa’s most dynamic thought-leaders, industry game-changers and icons of social activism gathered at the Forbes Woman Africa gala dinner awards on the 6th of March 2020, to celebrate the continent’s most influential roleplayers in business, sports, science, entertainment and leadership. Five South African’s made the cut as some of the continent’s most influential roleplayers.
2020 Forbes Woman Africa SA winners included Dr Aisha Pandor, Co-founder of SweepSouth (Technology and Innovation Award); DJ Zinhle(Entertainer Award); Bafana Khumalo, Co-founder of Sonke Gender Justice(Male Gender Advocate Award); Charmaine Mabuza, Co-founder of Zamani Holdings(Social Impact Award)and Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, Minister of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Legacy Award).
Durban Mayor, Zandile Gumede delivered the opening address followed by a welcome address by Rakesh Wahi, co-founder of the ABN Group. MEC for Economic Development, Tourism & Environmental Affairs, Sihle Zikalala was the keynote speaker for the evening and congratulated the winners.
In his address, Zikalala said that he was happy to have members from various industries at the Forbes Woman Africa Leading Women Summit including the creative industry, academia and entrepreneurship. He also spoke about the importance of investing and mentoring young female entrepreneurs and highlighted that there has been a change and success. “We are the leaders in our own organisations and we need to practice what we preach,” said Charmaine Mabuza.
