With only a few days to go before Sasol Techno X, time is running out to register for South Africa’s premier career guidance exhibition. Hosted on virtual platforms from 12 to 16 September, Sasol Techno X is a showcase for the awesome possibilities of careers and studies in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics, and Innovation (STEAMI).

The one-of-a-kind Sasol Techno X 2022 is the 20th anniversary of an annual event that attracts more than 20,000 young leaders and innovators each year. This year, Sasol Techno X has lined up a powerhouse list of inspiring speakers and panellists, representing a wide scope of entrepreneurs, scientists, technologists, engineers, innovators and educationalists. They include:

Prof Tshilidzi Marwala, Vice-Chancellor, University of Johannesburg
And many more

The four days of tours, talks, displays and hands-on activities and workshops will focus on the STEAMI careers of the future, youth entrepreneurship and employability, and digital literacy. There is a heavy focus on the amazing opportunities of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, including cutting edge views on drones, robotics, analytics, artificial intelligence renewable energy, and the green economy.

Sasol Techno X opens up the awe-inspiring vistas of the exciting disciplines and career choices in science, mathematics and technology to the youth. Delegates will hear directly from people who work in STEAMI what it’s like to be a chemical engineer, electrical engineer, software developer, pilot, forensic scientist, digital animator, and so much more. Online visitors to Techno X can also look forward to exhibition stands powered by creative interactive tools such as:

Says Noxolo Kahlana, Head of Sasol Foundation: “South Africa has a youth unemployment crisis, yet at the same time, we face critical shortages of young talent in fields such as engineering and technology. With Sasol Techno X, we highlight how STEAMI education opens up exciting employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for young people.

“If you’re nearing the end of your school career, we urge you to join us to learn how you can prosper, explore, create, innovate and make a difference by choosing a career in STEAMI. By choosing to become scientists, engineers, technologists, and innovators, the next generation can unleash the economic potential and global competitiveness of our country.”

Sasol aims to be a catalyst for positive change, driving shared socio-economic value and caring deeply for our people, planet, and communities. As one of the country’s leading STEAMI employers, Sasol urges young people to learn more about the field by taking part in this event and to consider applying for a Sasol Foundation bursary if they are thinking about a career with great prospects and stimulating opportunities.
