Ride-sharing mobile app, Afri Ride recently launched in South Africa. The app includes a chat service called Mbira Chat which allows users to communicate through live location, texting, voice call or video call before booking the seat or car. Users can upload their travel details such as the start and end location, travel date and the number of empty seats that are available allowing other travellers who are heading in the same direction to book their seat.
According to the Associations of Automobiles (AA), there are more people that need transport than there are rides. The app provides a platform for people who need rides and connects travellerâs. A new study from Juniper Research has found that a surge in shared transport will continue, with driver and passenger numbers seeing substantial growth over the next five years.
Afri Ride also provides an option to subsidize the expenses associated with car ownership. Moyo suggests listing your vehicle on Afri Ride and allowing users to borrow the car at a cost. “A car parked in a garage is not only depreciating in value but also running up the ownerâs bill by way of insuranceâ, says Moyo. Unlike most hired car requirements that require drivers to fill in tonnes of paperwork and have an active credit card, Afri Ride users need to filter their search according to their needs and affordability and allow the App to connect them to a pool of suitable vehicles. Afri Ride is easy to use and has a 24-hour contact experience centre which is available at all times to assist our community membersâ, Moyo adds.
