Vuwani district gets new academy thanks to SAME

Vuwani district has found favour as donors recently opened up an academy to help 16 schools in the district to help children stay in schools and acquire education.

SA Medical and Education Foundation (SAME) and corporate donors funded and officially opened the Masia Maths and Science Academy (MMSA) in Ha-Masia on the 6th of March 2020. The Academy seeks to educate the people in the district as it seems to be an academically deserted place.

Masia is a rural place with unfavourable conditions that hinder the youth from being educated. There is recorded evidence of high illiteracy rate, poverty, and child headed families. SAME and some donors saw to it that learning resources will improve STEM, (Sciences, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).

Several classrooms and labs have been built to produce an educated district. Chief (Vho-Thovele) Mthumeni indicated the high crime levels in the district which have been led by low levels of education. However, Prof Joseph Francis from University of Venda gave full support to the academy and vowed to help the staff in all ways possible for the betterment of the future.

Working hand in glove is the key to achieve the same goal. Without working together, the academy would still be a dream to SAME, Supra health care, Themo fisher scientific distill development Trust, Net1 and Toyota Industrial Equipment.
