The Allan Gray Orbis Foundation Scholarship programme is still open and is calling on current Grade 6 learners to apply. The programme focuses on equipping young people with an entrepreneurial mindset to enable future generations to redress the inequalities of the past and to continue the economic and social transformation of Southern Africa.
The scholarship covers full tuition and boarding fees (if placed in a boarding school), a monthly allowance (pocket money), a travel subsidy (day scholars only), stationery and prescribed books, toiletries, school uniforms, casual clothing and support for extra-mural activities. Scholars also have access to an entrepreneurial development programme.
During the scholarship, learners will have access to interactive online learning, workshops, speakers and seminars, and an annual entrepreneurial conference. They will also be assigned a Programme Officer as a mentor and will form part of a like-minded community.
Successful applicants will be required to write the Foundation exam in Mathematics and English for Grade 6. Following this, successful candidates will be invited for interviews. Recommended candidates will be invited to the placement schools for interviews, and those who are approved by the placement schools will be awarded the scholarship.
Applications close on the 30th of September. Interested candidates can apply by visiting www.allangrayorbis.org where they can download the form
