South Africa’s educational institutions have endured major disruptions and challenges over the past year, putting support of these vital services at the top of community priorities.
Vuma, one of South Africa’s leading fibre providers, and its local ISP partners in the Tshwane region, have grouped together to proudly sponsor a community golf day at Wingate Park Golf Course on Friday 26 March.
This collaborative effort is driven annually by Andre Seckle on behalf of the Eersterust Golf Club, which aims to introduce and develop golf skills among the community’s youth. This year’s event will raise funds to support provide much-needed sponsorship for Nantes Primary School.
Founded in 1970, Nantes Primary School leadership have worked tirelessly to upgrade and rebuild its facilities, to ensure that its more than 1 000 pupils have access to safe and functional resources. Now facing more obstacles than ever, the school’s leadership have appealed to its community to provide additional assistance.
“Support from residents and businesses in the community makes a significant impact on the wellbeing and success of the school’s staff and learners,” says Nantes Primary School principal, Mrs Griffiths. “We’re honoured to receive this commitment from Vuma and other companies in the area.”
As a technology company with a track record of working to narrow the digital divide in South Africa, Vuma became aware of Nantes Primary School’s call for support through the rollout of its REACH solution to Tshwane’s residents – which sets out to deliver fibre technology to traditionally underserviced areas.
“Our commitment is to support communities and add value beyond infrastructure, which is why we constantly work to identify areas of need in our communities, and take the necessary steps to address them,” says Taylor Kwong, CSI Manager at Vuma. “We are incredibly proud to play a part in supporting the learners, educators and parents of Nantes Primary School, and it is our hope that other organisations in Tshwane contribute to continuous community improvements,” she concludes.
