The books are out, the lecturers are inspiring and educating, and the students are up-skilling and learning in Educo Solutions’ first phase of free education classes in Soweto.
Since their launch in April this year, Educo’s learning centres at Protea Point Shopping Centre and Diepkloof Square Centre have been met with enthusiasm from students between the ages of 18 to 28, who are confident that they will grow further and become employable. Registrations are open throughout the year and all students with the correct criteria are encouraged to register on Monday – Friday between 9am and 4pm.
Educo Solutions provides free, quality, NQF and SETA accredited education over 12-month courses, which focus on relevant skills like end-user computing and business communications. After the course, the students will be better equipped to become entrepreneurs, secretaries, data capturers, administrators, customer service agents, help desk administrators, call centre agents, receptionists and more.
In addition to empowering young people through its NQF and SETA accredited courses, Educo will offer part-time work to dedicated students who are excelling in class, giving them the opportunity to earn a subsidiary income. The company is also giving out weekly vouchers to students who have shown outstanding participation, attitude and commitment to the courses.
Educo is also in the final stages of moving the Alexandra Plaza learning Center to Alex Mall (registrations are open with classes beginning on the 9th of September). We will be rolling out a further 10 learning centers in similar communities over the next year.
“These learning centres play a significant role in the delivery of free education,” says Ayanda Mkhwanazi, Educo Solutions head of academics. “Our centres are not sponsored nor government funded, and Educo Solutions are doing their utmost in providing a place for students to learn and grow. Although we do not charge the students, Educo Solutions makes a substantial investment, in partnership with Corporate South Africa, into providing infrastructure for the students to have a safe place to study within their communities.”

Both Soweto centres and Alex Mall are open for registration, Monday to Friday, between 9am and 4pm.
