Boarding schools reopen to accommodate June exam candidates.

In preparation for Zimbabwe Ordinary and Advanced Level June examinations, boarding schools have started to receive students who will be sitting for the programmed examinations.

Examinations will proceed as expected and programmed by the Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC). With this, boarding schools have seen the need to receive students in order to accommodate them during this crucial period.

The Primary and Secondary Education Minister Cain Mathema assured the press that both teachers and students would be tested even before the exams begin. He said there would structure a quarantine bay for COVID-19 infected people.

Mathema also told the public that the government was getting ready to test teachers who would be invigilating the examinations before they begin. He also asked all teachers around the country to comply with these government regulations in order to carry out successful examinations.

The government has said they won’t be entertaining any leave applications as the examination centres might be under staffed. Critical staff members have been urged to report for duty as soon as they can.

“We are going to do everything that is required by WHO to ensure the safety of teachers and learners,” said Mathema.

“There is going to be thorough screening and testing of teachers and learners to ensure they are safe. Our main aim is not to expose our learners and invigilators to Covid-19 hence our commitment to adhering to the High Court order,” continued Mathema.
