5 Loeriesfontein students awarded full study bursaries for 2021

Following a roadshow in Loeriesfontein in October last year, five students have been awarded full study bursaries for 2021, removing the financial burden and concerns often associated with tertiary education.

One of the beneficiaries,Este-Lee Nel, is in her first year, studying toward a National Certificate (Vocational) in Civil Engineering and Building Construction, at Boland FET College, in Paarl. She is inspired by the financial assistance awarded to her, as part of Khobab Wind Farm’s 2021 bursary programme, which currently finances fifteen local Loeriesfontein community students at institutions across the country.

“This helps me to get one step closer to my big dream of becoming one of our country’s female engineers. The bursary relieves me financially so that I can stay focused on my studies and give my best. The bursary is one step towards making it possible for students to pursue their academic dreams. With the chance to further their education, each student is given the opportunity of a brighter and better economic future. The bursary takes a huge financial burden off each student and their families, hopefully inspiring and motivating more youth with academic aspirations to aim at being awarded a bursary when the time comes,” explained Vanessa Fredericks Economic Development Manager for Loeriesfontein and Khobab Wind Farm.

The bursary programme is promoted to Grades 10 to 12 at Loeriesfontein High School and is available to applicants wishing to pursue studies at university or technical college, and is not limited to any field of study, although the long-term goal is to become focused on STEM subjects, such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics and accounting.
