Supercars Give Children Dream Experience

Children supported by Reach For A Dream swapped medical routines for high-speed adventure during a special supercar experience at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit.

A group of children from the foundation’s Pretoria Dream Club attended the Festival of Motoring, where they were treated to high-speed laps around the circuit in luxury supercars.

The experience gave the children an opportunity to step away from the demands of their medical routines and spend the morning enjoying cars, speed and the excitement of the track alongside other young dreamers.

For 14-year-old Mogomotsi Smith, getting into one of the supercars became the highlight of the day.

“The best part of my day was going in the super-fast car. The driver answered my questions with so much energy. It’s a memory I’ll keep forever,” she said.

Eleven-year-old Mukona Radzilani also experienced a high-speed lap around Kyalami.

“The car was very fast. I had a good time,” she said.

Reach For A Dream Pretoria team leader Natasha Mohlala said the experience was particularly meaningful because supercars are something many of the children dream about.

“For many of our dreamers, owning supercars is something they dream of. The laps around the track is another dream come true,” Mohlala said.

“Having them connect over something they don’t see every day is a joy they’ll carry with them for a long time. We’re grateful to the Festival of Motoring for making this possible.”

Dream Club creates opportunities for children facing life-threatening illnesses to spend time together and participate in experiences away from the realities of treatment and illness.

The Kyalami outing allowed the children to connect through a shared experience, with the excitement of the track providing a morning focused on fun rather than medical routines.

Experiences such as these are supported through Reach For A Dream fundraising initiatives, including its annual Dream Raffle.

The 2026 Dream Raffle launches on 1 September, with tickets priced at R200. Funds raised help the organisation create experiences for children facing life-threatening illnesses, while entrants stand a chance to win a new Jetour T2.
