GWM Supports Learners Through CSI

GWM South Africa is strengthening education support in Tembisa through back-to-school assistance, helping young learners start the academic year prepared, confident and ready to succeed.

GWM South Africa has delivered back-to-school support packs to foundation phase learners at four primary schools in Tembisa as part of its Giving More corporate social investment programme. The initiative was implemented in partnership with the Rally to Read Foundation, which focuses on improving literacy development and educational outcomes in under-resourced communities across South Africa.

The support packs were designed to ease financial pressure on families during the start of the school year, a period widely recognised as financially demanding for many households. By combining educational resources with food support, the initiative acknowledged the link between basic needs, learner wellbeing and consistent school attendance.

“Supporting education goes beyond books and classrooms,” said Floyd Ramabulana, Head of Marketing at GWM South Africa. “As GWM South Africa, we aim to respond to the real pressures that families face, providing practical support that helps learners arrive at school ready to engage and participate. Our Giving More Programme reflects our commitment to meaningful, evidence-led interventions that strengthen both children and the communities around them.”

The programme forms part of GWM South Africa’s broader Giving More strategy, which adopts a collaborative approach to community upliftment. In December 2025, GWM dealerships nationwide participated in locally driven initiatives, delivering support tailored to the needs of schools and communities in their respective regions.

Educators at participating schools highlighted the value of sustained partnership and hands-on support. “GWM has been present in our school through Rally-to-Read, supporting literacy and learning in our classrooms,” said Gabsile Mabanga from Emmangweni Primary School. “This back-to school support shows that the commitment goes beyond reading materials and extends to helping our leaners start the year on a strong footing.”

School leaders also noted the broader impact on families and learning readiness. “We have seen the impact of GWM’s support through Rally-to-Read, and this additional assistance makes a real difference for our learners and their families,” said Sannie Khosa of Marhulana Primary School. “It reinforces that education is supported not only inside the classroom, but also through practical interventions that help children arrive at school ready to learn.”

Through its partnership with the Rally to Read Foundation and its national dealership network, GWM South Africa continues to invest in education, literacy and community development, contributing to stronger learning foundations and improved educational outcomes for young learners.
