City to host first ever Doing Business in Cape Town Summit

The City of Cape Town is set to host its inaugural Doing Business in Cape TownSummit on Wednesday, 16 October. The event will bring together industry leaders and key stakeholders to explore strategies aimed at achieving double-digit economic growth and fostering sustainable development in the region.

‘Hosting this summit marks a significant milestone in our commitment to creating a thriving economy for all Capetonians. Our primary focus is to drive Cape Town towards double-digit economic growth by unlocking new opportunities and collaboration across sectors,’ said Alderman James Vos, the Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth.

The summit will unpack Volume 2 of the Ease of Doing Business Index, highlighting the City’s business-facing services, such as the time required to obtain business licenses, trading permits and building plan approvals.

‘We will focus on the city’s high growth sectors such as business process outsourcing (BPO) workforce development, and support for small and medium-sized businesses,’ said Alderman Vos.

During the event, Alderman Vos will present industry performance statistics and discuss actionable strategies aimed at driving economic advancement.

‘Our goal is to stimulate meaningful dialogue that leads to tangible results, ultimately positioning Cape Town for robust growth,’ he said.

The summit will be livestreamed, allowing broader participation from the business community and stakeholders unable to attend in person.

‘We invite everyone to tune in and be part of this crucial conversation about Cape Town’s economic future,’ said Alderman Vos.
