Bringing warmth and hope to Noupoort’s elderly residents

In support of senior citizens and vulnerable residents, Inam Inkosi Home for Elderly and Sick People, a local non-profit organisation in Noupoort, received essential winter supplies to ensure they are well-prepared for the harsh winter months.

The initiative was made possible by Noupoort Wind Farm, which has consistently supported Inam Inkosi Home since 2020, providing crucial resources and support that extend beyond the cold months to help many families in need.

“The increasingly cold weather this winter has posed serious challenges for the elderly and vulnerable. Hence, we decided to provide them with essential winter items, such as blankets, beanies and matching scarves, as well as a warm cup of soup,” stated Sandisiwe Mntonintshi, Economic Development Manager for Noupoort Wind Farm.

Coinciding with Mandela Day, this initiative was in recognition of the indigent circumstances of many of the beneficiaries and aligns with the values and legacy of our former president, who is known for his dedication to social justice and care for marginalised communities.

Reflecting on the significance of the day, Belinda Maliti, Managing Director of Inam Inkosi Home for Elderly and Sick People stated, “Many of the elderly were personally involved in the struggle, which led to the imprisonment of Nelson Mandela. They lived through the very struggles which he sacrificed his freedom for. This inspires us to give back to them in gratitude because we acknowledge that it is today’s elderly people who have fought for, and won the freedom and democracy in which we live.”

She added, “We volunteer our time to this cause, upholding Nelson Mandela’s legacy and we are grateful to Noupoort Wind Farm for their ongoing support, making initiatives like this possible.”
