Newly qualified teacher committed to her community – Riverton, NC

Kediletile Lettie Moswete, a mother of one and a passionate educator, is celebrating her graduation with a Bachelor of Education from the University of South Africa (UNISA) later this year, marking her as the first person in her family to achieve a degree.

Reflecting on her education choice, Kediletile, who’s academic and professional journey has been intertwined with her service to the community, said, “I chose to study the Foundation Phase because I love working with young kids. It brings joy to my heart to make a difference in their lives at such a formative stage.”

Her journey in education began as a Reading Coach in Droogfontein Solar Power’s Numeracy and Literacy Programme, where her passion for teaching was nurtured. Recognizing her dedication, she received a full bursary from the Droogfontein Solar Power Bursary Programme, which has supported over 16 local students since 2014.

It is this support that enabled her to solidify her role within the Riverton educational community, allowing her to return during her final year at university. Serendipitously, Kediletile secured a position at Waterworks Primary School—the very school she attended as a child—initially as a Grade 3 Educator, before transitioning to a Grade 2 role this year, thus bringing her educational journey full circle.

On the significance of the bursary, she remarked, “This bursary has brought dignity and respect to me, my family, and Riverton. It’s empowering to be the first degree holder in my family and a locally-based educator, which is a source of pride for our community.”

Looking ahead, Kediletile intends to further her education by pursuing her Honours next year. Her daily interactions with colleagues and students inspire her to continue making a positive impact in her community. Her graduation represents not only a personal milestone but also serves as a beacon of inspiration, highlighting the transformative power of education and the support of the community.
