In support of local agriculture, five farmers from the Ramotshere Moiloa Local Municipality have successfully completed a three-year enterprise development programme. Having recently graduated, these farmers are poised to drive positive change and prosperity within their communities.
Refilwe Saku, one of the programme participants, expressed her gratitude, stating, “The programme has helped us to formalise our way of working and to understand agriculture better. We hope that the work Zeerust Solar has done for us will not end with us, but that other people can also be assisted.”
Launched in 2021, the Agri4Change initiative, supported by Zeerust Solar, focuses on nurturing high-quality, sustainable farming enterprises. The programme provides crucial seed funding and essential business mentorship, equipping these entrepreneurial farmers with the tools necessary to succeed and flourish in their agricultural endeavours.
“Our Enterprise Development initiatives are strategically designed to uplift local SMMEs, fostering sustainable growth and creating employment opportunities within the community. As such, we are committed to nurturing entrepreneurial talent and promoting the long-term viability of our agricultural sector,” stated Qinisani Siveshe, Community Operations Manager for Zeerust Solar.
Facilitated in partnership with Angels Resource Centre, the programme equips the participants with the necessary skills and resources to thrive in the competitive agricultural landscape. Through a comprehensive curriculum covering business, technical, and soft skills, participants underwent accredited training in Mixed Farming and Crop Production Level 1, aligned with AgriSETA standards.
Looking ahead, the graduates are positioned to expand their businesses, employing the knowledge and expertise gained during the Agri4change programme.
