Raising Giants Organisation empowers local football coaches

Raising Giants Organisation (RGO), a non-profit organisation that was established in 2008 with a bold vision to raise successful and talented leaders in communities, has partnered with Transition Football Club to host coaching workshops at Orbit TVET College, Mankwe Campus from 14th July to 16th July.

Founder of Raising Giants Organisation, Kgomotso Khosa says, “We have embarked on a sports transformation journey not to only support the development of sports in North West but also address societal issues such as coaching skills, mentoring, and training to ensure players, coaches, and the community is equipped with information and resources they can use post the coaching workshops.”

Aimed at closing the gap in the transformation and development of sports in SA, the coaching workshops are hosted by Transition Football Club coach, Claudio Lorenzani and football legend, Doctor Khumalo.

“I am excited to be part of RGO’s sports development initiative. Football has evolved, and we need to create platforms for coaches to be able to upskill themselves and have solid structures for players to succeed in their football careers,” says Doctor Khumalo.

According to Ndivhuho Mafela, Head of Stakeholder Relations, Marketing and Communications at National Lotteries Commission, “Sports and recreation is an integral part of nation-building, creating social cohesion, and the holistic wellness of communities. The NLC directors a significant portion of the budget in the Sport and Recreation Sector to organisations that develop sports and recreational facilities in rural areas, with a particular aim to increase accessibility to facilities. Beneficiaries in this sector also form part of the sport development, creating a pipeline of athletes that eventually uplift the profile of their various sporting codes and represent the country on the world stage.”
