MiWay has partnered with the Socialtv.co.za to shed light on what it’s doing from a corporate social investment perspective. “We are using the platform to share the good news with our clients and South Africa as a whole on programmes and initiatives we have put in place to bring meaningful impact in the communities we operate in,” says Nthabiseng Moloi, Executive Head: People & Brand at MiWay.
Moloi says MiWay wants to join other major companies that are emphasizing the need to get involved in communities that they affect. “We believe that we can use the platform to learn and share with other companies and highlight the greater good that is being done,” she adds.
Socialtv.co.za provides a great platform for highlighting business’s efforts to make impactful differences in society. Socialtv.co.za also provides a meeting place where like-minded businesses can share ideas and information, and perhaps even link projects, in the drive to improve corporate investment on initiatives. Like they say, “It takes a village”, and Socialtv.co.za is that village, a place where South Africans can share collective wisdom and build partnerships for good.
MiWay’s current CSI programmes, Leaders in the Making and the MiHeart Project, focus on identifying and then supporting high-potential young people to reach their educational goals and achieve their dreams, Moloi says. She emphasizes that both programmes take a holistic approach, combining financial assistance with support for the learners.
Leaders in the Making identifies eight promising learners from schools in Soweto and Tembisa who can benefit from mentorship from selected members of MiWay’s management team. These learners can then apply for bursaries to cover the cost of their tertiary education.
Samm Marshall, CEO, Social TV, says that MiWay’s approach is in harmony with Socialtv.co.za drive to create an integrated platform to communicate the great work being done by South African corporates to turn South Africa around.“Initiatives like MiWay’s MiHeart Project shows the kind of innovative thinking we want to promote and share so that we can together maximise the impact on the economy, on society and the environment,” he says. “We can all learn from what others are doing in this space and take heart when we see what is being achieved.”
