As we approach the end of a challenging yet successful sporting season, Tshwane Sports Council, in collaboration with the City of Tshwane and Gauteng Sports Council are proud to announce that the Tshwane Women in Sports Awards 2021, will take place on 16 February 2022.
Taking place at the University of Pretoria High Performance Centre (HPC), the award ceremony will recognize and honour women in sport who have excelled both on and off the field.
Sportspeople in Tshwane are passionate, talented, dedicated and resilient, says Winston Meyer, President of Tshwane Sports Council. And, despite the ongoing challenges which we have faced resulting from the effects of the COVID19 Pandemic, they have remained steadfast, committed to growth and continued to produce success stories from grassroots to regional and International level he continues, and, these are just a few reasons for honouring our Women and Girls sports heroes.
The Tshwane Women in Sports Awards (TWISA) will bring together all the people that help with the success of Women and Girls sport in Tshwane. These are the athletes, partners, media, coaches, venues and management. They are the professionals that are shaping sport and helping carry us to greater heights.
The TWISA will showcase the best of Women in Sport in Tshwane.
We, (TSC) are excited to be able to host this prestigious event, sanctioned in collaboration with/by the City of Tshwane (CoT), Gauteng Sport Confederation (GSC),and backed by SPAR and the HPC, to recognize the amazing work people are doing ensuring the growth and development of Women and Girls Sport in Tshwane.
With 20 award categories for consideration and nomination TSC, CoT and GSC will award big achievers within Tshwane for their incredible accomplishments.
Voting will be decided by a panel of industry professionals with some categories open to voting by the public.
The full list of categories will be released on Monday 22 November 2021.
Nomination Procedure
Nominations for the awards are unlimited in number therefore, the Tshwane based Sports Federations, Clubs, NPOâs/NPCâs/NGOâs may nominate as many sport persons, teams and media as they wish for any of the respective award categories. Only nominations from Federations in good standing will be accepted.
Duration of Nomination Process
The nomination process will be open for the period starting from 22 November 2021 to allow enough time for the nomination process and public participation, with the closing date for nomination being the 22 January 2022
Valid Nomination Forms
Only nominations submitted on valid Nomination Forms will be accepted.
The following must be attached to the Nomination form:
- A detailed Sports CV of the person or teams or NPO, NPC, NGO being nominated.
- Photos (High resolution 1 x head and shoulder and 1 x full length action)
Deadline for Nominations
The deadline date for nominations is 22 January 2022.
