Learners excited to start Grade 1

Over 100 young learners from the communities in Maquassi Hills, are ready and excited to start Grade 1 this year. Having attended Reyabopa Early Learning Centre, Neo Pre School, Reagola Crèche and the Rethabile Crèche, they received their school bags and all their stationery in December, in anticipation of this exciting school year, that has finally begun after over two months of holidays.

As part of Bokamoso Solar’s focus on supporting local Early Childhood Development (ECD) in the area, 103 packs of school bags, filled with the full quota of stationery was handed over to the young learners at an event hosted in honour of the Grade R learners. This was an initiative under the Maquassi Hills Department of Social Development, in conjunction with the Kgakala community crèches.

“Our Socio Economic Development programme includes a strong focus on supporting local community ECD Centres. In particular, Bokamoso Solar aims to assist the ECD Centres with the provision of education resources and play equipment,” commented Tshepo Kgoloane, Community Operations Manager for Bokamoso Solar.

The children received their school packs at a Christmas Party, held on 17 December 2020 at Leeudoringstad Aqua Park. The event was also attended by the management committee, Social Development Officials and other guests, who enjoyed watching the children having fun.

“We are so pleased that the children are ready for school and have all the necessary stationery to begin Grade 1,” said Polela Moipolai Adeline, ECD Centre Manager. During its 20-year operations, the project will benefit a large number of communities, spread within a 50km
the radius of Bokamoso Solar, through various Economic Development programmes. The project’s
The Socio-Economic Development programme will be focused on education, youth development, health, food security and welfare. The initiatives have been chosen following research and engagement to ensure that are well informed and will strengthen the beneficiary communities.
