City of Cape Town invites NGOs to apply for new grant funding

Closing on the 27th of November 2020, the City of Cape Town is calling all organisations to submit a business plan and supporting documentation for a portion of the R14m in the grant. Organisations would have to outline exactly which projects they require funding for.

The funding is available to qualifying organisations which work with the following groups:

Youth development and education
Early childhood development (ECD)
Gender-based violence (GBV)
Persons with disabilities
LGBTQQIA+
Street people

“We call on applicants to be as detailed as possible in their applications. Funding is limited and not everyone may qualify or receive funding in full. It is also important that applicants be mindful of the requirements set out in the policy. Often, organisations are disqualified because they do not have the necessary documentation like audited financial statements or a tax clearance certificate,” said the city’s mayoral committee member for community services and health, Councillor Zahid Badroodien.

“The city wants to assist as many organisations as possible because we recognise the very real need in our NGO sector and the amazing work that many of these organisations are doing. However, we are bound by legislation and the grant application and disbursement process has to be faultless in that regard, so I urge organisations to make sure they meet all of the requirements in submitting their applications,” he added.

For the requirements, applicants can contact Genevieve Adams on 0214001139 or visit az.vog.nwotepac@tnempoleveDlaicoS for official grant application forms.
