Freedom Campaign is a neutral platform for debate and engagement. The initiative works toward decoding policy and legislation for people to consume it without biases that result from the strong ideological views of politics and media houses.
The Freedom Campaign is based in Richard’s Bay, Kwa-Zulu Natal, with ‘Freedom Hubs’ in cities across South Africa. The hubs serve as platforms for interested members of the public to engage on by-laws from local levels through to legislation at provincial and national levels, debate various interpretations of these by-laws.
Sihle Magubane, founder and campaign manager of Freedom Campaign says, “The aim is to build an active citizenry and allow all sectors of the community to question and engage policy, and to be more aware of how the country operates.” He emphasised the campaign’s involvement in workshopping lawmakers at a local level to be more in-tuned with the constitutional aspect of their legislative making process
