Since its inception in 2011, the Nthuse Foundation has been helping students with disabilities and students from disadvantaged backgrounds obtain tertiary qualifications.
The foundation started with 5 students and currently provides aid to 70 students in Cape Town and Gauteng. The Nthuse Foundation started working with Damelin College 6 years ago.
Nosi, one of the programme’s beneficiaries, studies Marketing and sales at Damelin College is excited about the opportunity to one day work at reception. She encourages other youth to, “work hard to get opportunities at college so that they will be successful.
Sharon, Marketing and Sales student at Damelin says the NthuseFoundation provides an opportunity for other learners with disabilities to learn instead of “lying in bed all day, doing nothing”.
The Nthuse Foundation project aims to build a pipeline of youth with disabilities for different organisations to absorb them into different aspects of their business units and also to give the youth opportunities in Cape Town and Gauteng. The vision is to grow this project nationally.
