Portia Modise and AGCS on the search for talented female soccer players

Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) AfricaĀ is searching for two top talented girls to represent South Africa at theĀ Allianz Explorer Camp | Football Edition is previously known as the Allianz Junior Football Camp in Munich, Germany from August 22 to 27, 2019.

The camp is aligned with theĀ Allianz Global Explorer ProgramĀ and is open to aspiring footballers between the ages of 14 and 16. The youngsters will meet FC Bayern stars, get trained by youth coaches and participate in off the pitch activities. Now in its eleventh year, it develops the next generation of leaders through on and off the pitch activities to widen and experience new ways of leadership.

Following the successful local tournament in 2018, this year, former Banyana Banyana captain, Portia Modise, will lead the search for the two talented girls in Alexandra. An Allianz representative and an independent legal expert will be part of the selection panel.

The camp has received close to 500 000 applications since inception from around the world and over 500 explorers from 30 countries have been fortunate to be part of it, includingĀ Tebatso Leshata SekoalengĀ from Alexandra who was the first teenager to represent South Africa last year. He is now part of the Highlands Park Football Club junior team and an inspiration to teenagers at his school and his community.

ā€œAs AGCS Africa, we are thrilled to enable two talented girls to become captains of the future through the Allianz Explorer Camp | Football Edition. Our purpose is to develop the next generation of leaders through an environment, which enables them to learn, explore and collaborate with each other. The camp will explore and unpack the three topics: dreams, courage and purpose, on and off the pitch to support the participantā€™s development to lead in the future. At the end of the camp the participants will contribute their learnings at the Explorer Series event in Munich and within their community,ā€ says AGCS Africa CEO Thusang Mahlangu.

The players will be scouted at a 5-a-side schools tournament which will be held at Three Square Sports Grounds, Alexandra on May 31, 2019. Learners from Minerva, Realogile, Kwabhekilanga, Alexandra and Eastbank High, as well as Pholosho Junior Primary schools will be competing for the two spots. The ultimate winners will be selected based on their dreams, courage and purpose on and off the pitch.
