Eskom competition finalist, William Mokgethi, harbours serious ambitions to make a mark in the North West transport services sector. His company, Montsamaisa Bosigo Transport, was established in 2013 and it specialises in corporate shuttles and transfers as well as door-to-door courier collections and deliveries.
When he started his company, Mokgethi had already amassed 15 years of experience in the field as he grew up in a family that was in the business of transporting scholars. While his own company started out with just transporting passengers and scholars, he saw an opportunity to extend its services and that’s when he introduced the courier service and shuttle services.
Mokgethi entered his Rustenburg-based company in the Eskom Business Investment Competition in 2016 and 2017, where it made it to the finals. Participating in the competition proved worthwhile for Mokgethi as it enabled him to learn new methods and techniques on how he could grow his business. “Some of the prizes like exhibiting and participating in the three-day Small Business Expo, opened my eyes to a lot of interesting things and invaluable lessons. Taking part in it also helped me in growing my confidence.”
Montsamaisa Bosigo’s assets include two mini-bus taxis operating public transport services, four sedans for corporate shuttles and transfers as well as one bakkie for couriers and deliveries. The company has grown to become the preferred courier supplier in the North West mining town.
Now with five employees, the young and ambitious company has amongst its clients, Shanduka Black Umbrella, Lonmin Mine, Sibanye Mine and Impala Mine. “We are looking at going into trucking as well and to this end, we are currently working on registering with the Southern Africa Tourism Services Association (SATSA),” said Mokgethi.
