The International Tourism Film Festival Africa Introduces First ‘Young Creative Student Challenge’ during the Prestigious 2022 Awards

In celebration of the fourth year of the growing success of the International Tourism Film Festival Africa (ITFFA), Co-Founder and Director, James Byrne, launched the Young Creative Student Challenge (YCSC) as a vehicle of opportunity for young South Africans to produce and showcase their own movies geared toward the promotion of tourism in our country.

In partnership with the SA Film Academy, this unique upliftment program pitted eager teams of passionate student filmmakers against each other in their quest to produce the best possible tourism-based short film.

“We felt that there is so much talent in this country, and the young people actually have a story to tell. In spite of a very short turnaround time the students pulled out all the stops and made it happen! We were blown away by their dedication and commitment, and we are so grateful to our partners who came on board to support this new initiative which we plan to continue going forward”, says Byrne.

With great support from the V&A Waterfront, Nikon, Value Film Fleet and Hamman Drones, the YCSC was a resounding success, culminating in two teams tying for first place and receiving their awards on the main stage at the ITFFA 2022’s vibrant awards ceremony that was held at the Cape Town City Hall on Friday 7 May.

With the festival growing from strength to strength each year, attracting entries from across the globe and the welcome introduction of the YCSC, the sky is the limit for this fantastic event.
