Young soccer stars represent South Africa in Germany

Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) Africa selected two young girls from Alexandra township to represent South Africa at the Allianz Explorer Camp | Football Edition in Munich, Germany from August 22 – 27, 2019. Molly Mathole from Alexandra High School and Amina Alaoui from Kwabhekilanga Secondary School were part of the top six talented players scouted by former Banyana Banyana captain Portia Modise, out of almost 50 from six schools in Alexandra at the Allianz Football Tournament held in May at the Three Square Sports Ground in Alexandra.

“Congratulations to Molly and Amina for winning the trip to represent South Africa at the Allianz Explorer Camp | Football Edition in Munich. As Allianz, we care about the future of children and through the camp, we are enabling them to dream, have courage and purpose to be able to reach their goals,” says Thusang Mahlangu, CEO of AGCS Africa.

The two teenagers were selected following an assessment based on their passion for football, digital technology, and future topics. Portia Modise says: “The girls were determined to win the trip as they demonstrated a passion for the game, football skills, and discipline on and off the field. The Allianz Explorer Camp | Football Edition is contributing to the development of women’s football at a grassroots level and I am very happy to have witnessed and selected such great talent to represent our country in Germany.”

Hosted by Allianz in partnership with FC Bayern, the six day packed program will explore and unpack the three topics: dreams, courage, and purpose. The players will also meet FC Bayern stars, be trained by youth coaches and participate in innovation and digital activities beyond football to understand how the next generation will deal with the up and coming challenges they may have to face.
