Sowetans get another taste of Basha Uhuru

Nando’s is once again firing up the Basha Uhuru Freedom Festival, taking place from 25-29 October 2022 at Constitution Hill. Leading up to the main stage, Nando’s Maponya Mall hosted local music talent at the Basha in Casa music showcase giving customers a taste of what to expect at the Basha Uhuru Music Festival.

South Africa is home to a diverse and effervescent music scene, we are a musical nation with sounds as unique as our people coupled with unparalleled creative energy. It is with this passion that Nando’s continues to provide a platform for upcoming artists to share a stage with some of the more established talents in SA. On Sunday, 21 August 2022, the Nando’s Basha in Casa at Maponya Mall featured an impressive line-up with performances by Basetsana, Kallo and Basha Uhuru headliner Msaki. Msaki serenaded the audience with an excellent selection of her hit songs such as Fetch your life, Ubomi Abumanga, Mntakababa and Khusela.

“The idea is to not only get people fired up for Basha Uhuru later this year but also to bring Basha to the people through a showcase of emerging talents from our music programmes,” says Kirsty Niehaus, Marketing Manager: Of creativity Portfolio at Nando’s. “It’s a free event for quests, so they can enjoy their delicious PERi-PERi chicken with a side of music. Previously, our guest musos have included Langa Mavuso, Sio, and Aymos, with up-and-coming talents such as Wenawedwa, Khan Khalii and Muneyi from Bridges for Music as well as the Nando’s internal music talent search, Nandocas Uhurus. As the event continues to grow, more talent will continue to serenade our guests with their talent. Basha Uhuru ticket sales are going on sale this month and we’re excited about using these Basha in Casa events to build up towards the festival itself.”
