MANZI Water Joins Hands With The Hanna Charity and Empowerment Foundation And The Gift Of The Givers Foundation For Mandela Day

In honour of Mandela Day, MANZI Water, a South African beverage newcomer, partnered with renowned charity organisations, including the Hanna Charity and Empowerment Foundation and the Gift of the Givers Foundation, to donate bottles of water to communities in need across the country.

This initiative aligns with the spirit of Mandela Day, which encourages people worldwide to dedicate 67 minutes of their time to making a difference in their communities, reflecting the 67 years Nelson Mandela fought for social justice.

With an extensive network of over 100 outlets, MANZI Water ensures a consistent source of safe, clean, and refreshing hydration. This Mandela Day, the company extended its commitment to social upliftment by providing essential drinking water to families facing severe water supply challenges.

Mandela Day, celebrated annually on 18 July, marks the birthday of Nelson Mandela, South Africa’s former president and a global icon of peace and justice. The day calls for individuals, companies, and organisations to take action and inspire change, promoting the idea that everyone has the power to transform the world and make a positive impact.

MANZI Water collaborated with the Hanna Charity and Empowerment Foundation and the Gift of the Givers Foundation, both well-respected organisations known for their extensive reach and impact in communities needing assistance. Through these partnerships, MANZI Water was able to identify and support families severely affected by recent water supply issues.

In joining forces with the Hanna Charity and Empowerment Foundation, MANZI Water sponsored water to people in need across several regions. A total of 3,160 litres of water was delivered to 158 families across the following areas:

  • 66 families in Wolmer and Elandspoort; and
  • 92 families in Akasia, Springs, Eloff, Delmas, Leslie and Eendrag.

Each family received 20 litres of water, provided in four 5 litre bottles.

For its collaboration with Gift of the Givers Foundation, MANZI Water is pleased to sponsor 240 500 ml bottles of water as well as provide essential items to community members in need.

Further to these campaigns, MANZI Water sponsored a Mandela Day initiative, driven by Miss Bachelorette pageant winner, Ntsoaki Mabaso, in Equestria, Tshwane.

“Partnering with esteemed organisations such as the Hanna Charity and Empowerment Foundation and the Gift of the Givers Foundation allows us to ensure that our contributions reach those who need them most,” said Deon van den Berg, Head of Marketing for MANZI Water. “Providing safe, clean drinking water is essential to improving the health and well-being of our communities. By doing so, we hope to offer a bit of hope and relief to those struggling with water scarcity.”

CEO of MANZI Water, Alfred Challis, stated, “We believe in supporting people who find themselves in challenging circumstances. Mandela Day offers the perfect opportunity for us to make an impact on the lives of people in need. This year, in honour of the legacy of a great South African, we partnered with various organisations and individuals working to make a change for the better in our country.”

The Hanna Charity and Empowerment Foundation and the Gift of the Givers Foundation identified the beneficiaries for this initiative, focusing on families facing dire water shortages. Many of these families live in densely populated areas with inadequate water facilities, relying on shared taps and often lacking direct access to clean water.

Speaking upon receiving a delivery from MANZI Water, Lizal Stander from the Hanna Charity and Empowerment Foundation expressed her heartfelt gratitude towards MANZI Water for supporting communities in need by supplying water during times of water scarcity. “Many of the families here live in Wendy houses and do not have access to running water, besides a communal tap that is shared by numerous families. The need for water in affected areas is great.”

By distributing bottles of water to these communities, MANZI Water aims to alleviate some of the immediate hardships caused by water shortages. Access to clean drinking water is crucial for maintaining physical health and preventing waterborne diseases, and this initiative is a step towards ensuring that all South Africans have this basic necessity.
