City Lodge Hotels gives Emthonjeni Community Centre a helping hand

The Sandton and East Rand hotels in the City Lodge Hotel Group have once again handed over a massive haul of used but still functional linen, duvets, pillows, towelling, crockery and kitchen items plus new bottles of body lotion, to the value of nearly R228 000, to Emthonjeni Community Centre in Zandspruit, west of Johannesburg, on Tuesday, 25 May 2021. The last consignment was in September 2019 prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Emthonjeni is dedicated to community upliftment of those in need, especially via its successful Swop Shop which exchanges glass for goods, benefiting the impoverished community in Zandspruit. Head of partnership development, Estelle Mengel, says, “Our care-based, relationship-oriented projects are focused on providing for the needs of the communities we serve. City Lodge Hotel Group’s support has repeatedly played a big role in the success of our Swop Shop. Thank you for your continuous belief and trust in what we do as an organisation and contributing to positive change in our country.”

Lindiwe Sangweni-Siddo, chief operating officer of City Lodge Hotel Group, adds, “We are delighted to be able to help this worthy cause once again, even in these tough times. We appreciate all that Emthonjeni Community Centre does for the communities of Zandspruit, and are pleased to be able to lend a hand where we can. At City Lodge Hotel Group, we always put people first, including staff, guests and our various charitable partnerships.”
