Uber Eats recently visited various locations in Cape Town and Johannesburg as part of their give back campaign to treat modern day superheroes who were on duty during the festive holidays while we were all away resting . As part of this give-back campaign, the Uber Eats team visited the Johannesburg Children’s Home, ER24 paramedics branch in Bryanston, DARG (an animal rescue centre) and the Fire Station situated in the Cape Town CBD.
Johannesburg Children’s Home Visit
Ailyssa Pretorius, General Manager for Uber Eats South Africa alongside her team visited the Johannesburg Children’s Home to surprise the caregivers with lunch as well as grocery hampers for them to share with their families. For the duration of the visit, the team was able to interact with some of the children that were back from school and also surprised them with a small gift in the form of a party pack.
ER24 Visit
Following the visit to the Children’s home, the Uber Eats team surprised the ER24 paramedics at the Bryanston base with lunch and refreshments. Led by Tumelo Setlaba, Marketing Manager for Uber Eats, the young energetic team were excited to meet and interact with these superheroes for a pizza lunch date while on a break from saving lives.
Gareth Staley, Regional Manager for ER24 says, “Thank you so much for thinking of us, we really appreciate your kind gesture. Our team of paramedics work under so much pressure and this means so much to them.”
Domestic Animal Rescue Group (DARG) visit
For the third visit Samantha Fuller, Communications Manager for Uber Sub Saharan Africa, visited DARG, an organisation that rescues and re-homes abandoned and abused cats and dogs, to surprise the volunteers that give so much of their time looking after these furry creatures known as man’s best friend.
As part of the visit, the volunteers were spoilt with a much-deserved lunch courtesy of Uber Eats. Donations in the form of pet food were made to the organisation to help keep them going over the festive season.
Faustina Gardner, Managing Director at DARG says, “We are so happy that Uber Eats thought of us, we depend heavily on donations from the public to run our organisation, the donation of the pet food will definitely go a long way.”
Cape Town Fire Station visit
Last but certainly not least the Uber Eats team visited the Cape Town Fire station situated in the CBD, to surprise a team of 20 firemen and women with lunch. Nothando Ndhlovu, Restaurant Operations for Uber Eats and her team enjoyed their time with the brave men and women of Cape Town who heroically combat and extinguish fires in our communities.
