The Larson Family Foundation in Brookings, South Dakota, has announced grants totaling $90 million to Feeding America, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and Habitat for Humanity.
The three organizations will receive $30 million each in support of their efforts to help tens of millions of people nationwide facing food insecurity, create safe places and provide caring mentors for nearly five million youth, and help house families in need. The grant to Boys & Girls Clubs of America will support the organization’s Great Futures 2025 Impact Plan as well as ten local Boys & Girls Club organizations selected by Larson Family Foundation founder Dale Larson.
“A gift of this magnitude is not only an investment in our organization, but an investment in the young people we serve,” said Boys & Girls Clubs of America president and CEO Jim Clark. “This critical support will ensure that local Boys & Girls Clubs have the talent, training, capacity and resources they need to serve the youth and families that depend on them every day. We are so grateful to Dale and the Larson Family Foundation for recognizing the urgent needs facing kids and teens through their support of Boys & Girls Clubs. This generous gift will serve more youth, more often and with more impact, while ensuring long-term sustainability of vital services to many communities.”
Established in 1990 by the president and CEO of Larson Manufacturing Co., the foundation focuses its support on organizations working to help South Dakotans with basic needs such as food, shelter, and education.
“[T]he entire nation is suffering from the results of the pandemic crisis, economic recession, and lack of mental health solutions,” said Larson. “Because the needs are so extraordinarily high, we decided to expand our contributions nationally and do our part to help alleviate the problems of our fellow Americans. We are our brother’s and sister’s keeper.”
