Kluitjieskraal, Wolseley seeks assistance in the aftermath of devastating fire

The close-knit community of Kluitjieskraal in Wolseley is grappling with the aftermath of a devastating fire that has left nearly 500 residents in dire need of support. The flames have inflicted severe damage to homes, with many families now having to rebuild their lives from the ground up. Responding swiftly to the distress call, the Mustadafin Team provided cooked meals, essential perishable and non-perishable items to those affected. While their efforts have made a difference, the scale of the devastation requires more public support.

“Families in Kluitjieskraal are now faced with the daunting task of rebuilding their homes from the ground up. In this challenging time, we are extending an urgent appeal to fellow citizens and businesses to please donate essential items to help affected families to rebuild their lives,” appeals Ghairunisa Johnstone Cassiem, director of Mustadafin Foundation. “Linen, bedding, food, and various household items are urgently needed to help Kluitjieskraal residents. No contribution is too small; every act of kindness, no matter how seemingly insignificant, can make a significant impact on the lives of these families.”

The Kluitjieskraal fire has impacted 20,000 hectares of land in the past week, making it the largest wildfire in the Western Cape so far this year. Mustadafin continues to closely monitor the situation and nearby communities to roll out their disaster relief support where it is needed the most.

Donations can be made to Mustadafin Foundation, Standard Bank, branch code 025909, account no 072 778 377 or visit 154 Antelope Street to drop off items.
