The City of Cape Town is pleased to announce that the Bosasa Link community received their new 240l wheelie bins on Saturday, 21 September. Distribution of wheelie bins has been made possible by the Upgrade of Informal Settlement project (UISP) implemented by the City’s Human Settlements Directorate.
City teams also educate residents on what they can put in their bins, how to reduce waste with recycling/composting, and the processes for replacing stolen bins when their bins are delivered.
‘It is hoped that the provision of wheelie bins and weekly collection will make it easier for the community to keep their environment clean. We call on the residents to play their part by ensuring their bins are out for collection from 06:30 to 21:00 on Fridays – the scheduled day of collection, and to not litter and dump in the community. Please also report stolen bins promptly to ensure refuse collection is not affected by bin theft,’ said Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Waste Management, Alderman Grant Twigg.
