COME FLY WITH US to help the entertainment Industry

The Waiting In The Wings SA team is counting down to lift off, to take audiences on a virtual flight of pure entertainment with their next show ā€œ COME FLY WITH USā€ – the premiere performance that was filmed on an Airbus A430 can be caught online on Sunday 4th October at 7:00pm and the show can be seen until the 11th October.

This is the third production that the industrious Owen Lonzar and Megan Carelse have organised and produced since the lockdown started in March this year. The duo started Waiting In The Wings SA because of the plight of the performing artists and the dire situation many have found themselves in. The last show they produced Open Spaces, flighted in August and was hugely successful and the funds raised from ticket sales went towards supporting workers in the entertainment industry.

Says Owen Lonzar ā€œYour ticket purchase doesn’t only buy you an hour of top class entertainment, but helps to feed someone in an industry that has entertained us, we are asking people to please buy more than one ticket if they can afford to, gift it – give it to a family member or a friend, the contribution is keeping people fed.ā€

This big band show was recorded at a hangar at OR Tambo in front and on top of an Airbus A340 and is hosted by non-other than the fabulous award winning ā€˜air hostessā€™sā€™ Sylvaine Strike and Toni Morkel, AKA Florence and Svetlana.

The show features a 15 piece big band and has a line up of top air crew and talented passengers that include Graeme Watkins, Harry Sideropoulos, Lelo Ramasimong, Itu Sings, Megan Carelse, Adam Pelkowitz, Leote Taylor, Donovan Yaards, Winray Fortuin, Funeka Peppeta, Kiruna Lind-Devar and Lyla Faye and of course a company of dancers that will add the glitz to your flight.

Audiences will hear favourites like “Ain’t that a kick in the head”, “What a wonderful world”, “My way”, “Mr Bojangles”, “Respect”, “When I fall in love”, Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition” and “For once in my life” We didn’t forget about “Feeling Good”, “Valerie” , “Can’t take my eyes off of you” the dancers feature number “Sing sing sing’ and the crazy opening number recorded in the airbus “Come fly with me”.

ā€œAt the beginning of this process I thought that this storm would eventually run out of rainā€, said co-chairman of Waiting In The Wings SA Megan Carelse ā€œit hasn’t and it won’t for a long time. We have simply learned how to dance in it. I hope to see even more generosity and magic with our new production “COME FLY WITH US”.

Grab a ticket, book your seat and spend an hour in the skies with some of the countries top entertainers. COME FLY WITH US is just over an hour and all the money raised goes to support workers in the entertainment industry.

COME FLY WITH US will premiere at 7pm on Sunday 4th October, tickets are only R85.00, bookings can be made through www.quicket.co.za. Due to the huge interest for local and global audiences that the last shows have attracted COME FLY WITH US will be available to watch until the 11th October.

The creative team are producers Owen Lonzar and Megan Carelse, directed and choreographed by Owen Lonzar, vocal direction by Megan Carelse, band leader Etienne Mecleon, director of photography, cameraman and editor is Lauge Saurensen, technical director Aaron Harvey, Stage Management Alyssa Harrison, lighting by Luke Draper and sound design by Nik Sakellarides.
