South Africa’s epic island-style vacation destination, Sun City, is supporting five of the most successful 2021 matriculants from within the Bojanala District, North West.
The five matriculants, who achieved a more than 90% pass rate in their final exams, have been given a laptop each to help them further their studies. Collectively the laptops are valued at just over R115,000 and are top of the range with superior processing power.
“We are delighted to be able to assist bright young adults continue on their path to success as they become our country’s future leaders, and to also reward them for their hard work paid off,” says Brett Hoppé, Sun City’s General Manager.
The 2021 top achievers are:
· Eloise Shelly from Hartebeesport High School with a 96.29% average
· Oarabile Ndonyane from Eletsa Secondary School with a 95.71% average
· Keorapetse Matau from Britz High School with a 94.57% average
· Daniella Theron from Hartebeesport High School with a 93.29% average
· Melissa Janse van Rensburg from Rustenburg High School with a 93% average
The district, home to Kgetlengrivier, Moretele, Moses Kotane, Madibeng, Rustenburg, takes up 17% of the North West province’s geographical footprint and is home to many previously disadvantaged schools that desperately need upgrading.
“Despite the lack of funding and overcrowding some of these institutions experience, there are many who travel for a long time to attend school and further their education,” says Hoppé.
“It is worth noting that four of the five matriculants we are honouring are female, which is in keeping with our gender diversity values, especially in the run up to Women’s Month.”
The handover was done at the luxurious resort on 07 July, where Sun City hosted the students and their parents so that they could experience some of its magic.
