The Zimbabwe education system has announced the introduction of karate into the education curriculum and as part of sports and recreation to help children learn self-defence.
All karate unions have been told to submit their karate curriculums to the sports and recreation commission by July 10.
Once the karate masters have submitted all their karate styles, they will need to be approved by the mother association to enable the executive committee to draft an all inclusive karate Curriculum for students.
“It’s a good move in the sense that, the training should be structured and not haphazard. This will ensure kids are taught legitimate styles only with a registered syllabus,” says Mazibuko a Zimbabwean Karate Sensei advocating for karate lessons.
“We have urged members to exercise patience and train in private, as they must follow all coronavirus protocols. The association has begun consultations to find the best ways to move forward post Covid-19,” commented Mazibuko.
