“Wesolve4x exists to ignite a passion for numbers. We want to make an impact in our communities and at a national level. Our goal is to develop a generation of problem solvers who will play a critical role in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics streams, as well as in accounting,” says Tsietsi Ngobese, CEO and Actuarial Analyst of Wesolve4x.
Mathematics teaches a specific way of thinking about problems in everyday life. It involves creative, critical, and logical thinking and reasoning. The development and mastery of these skills is an indicator of success and a key attribute needed to thrive in the fourth industrial revolution.
“Fundamental mathematics is critical for the future of South Africa. Maths is a conceptual subject; it’s not just about calculations. Problem-solving is something our brains manage easily. If maths is taught well, it empowers learners to think for themselves and solve life’s problems,” adds Ngobese.
Gibela Rail is a South African passengers train manufacturing company based in Dunnottar, Ekurhuleni. The company has so far spent R63 million towards community development, community education initiatives and environment sustainability initiatives.
Dr Buyiswa Mncono-Liwani, the Executive for Corporate Services and Traction Motors Operations, lauded the Gibela Wesolve4x competition as a strategic intervention for economic development, emphasizing its potential to produce future engineers and professionals who will help build a prospering South Africa. “This competition speaks directly to our Socio-Economic Development pillars that intends to improve societal literacy.
