Dingani bookshop donates 1000 face masks to invigilators and students writing exams.

The Dingani bookshop has donated 1000 face masks and other equipment to Mat North teachers who will be invigilating the Zimbabwe Schools Examination (ZIMSEC) June 2020 exams.

The Zimbabwe board of examinations decided to continue with the planned and programmed June 2020 Ordinary and Advanced Level exams. Invigilators have been grateful after receiving 1000 face masks and other equipment to help them protect against the pandemic during the examination period.

Some education stakeholders had already called for the indefinite postponement of exams due to lack of protective equipment. Well-wishers from different places responded to the country’s needs by donating the necessities for students to write exams.

Mat North Provincial education Director Jabulani Mpofu accepted the gesture from Dingani Bookshop and Stationery as well as Bheksaz Solutions. Mpofu said the donations would be shared and distributed to various schools in the province giving most to those in serious need.

“This donation is for the teachers and learners, it’s to their benefit since we will be opening phase one. For now, exam classes have enough masks but our Form Fours and Grade Sevens will greatly benefit,” said Mpofu.

“This will go a long way for our students and we are very grateful to our partners. We are trying to promote better health in these times and the donation would have come at a better time,” Mpofu continued.

The Dingani Bookshop Director Witness Dingani said they took education very seriously and the donation was a small way to help struggling schools in the province as many schools were finding it hard to provide for both the students and teachers.

“It is our mission to make sure we provide for society. As a Bookshop we deal with schools, schools are currently facing challenges we have to assist them. They have to prepare for the exams at the same time fight against this global pandemic,” Dingani said.
